Ok, so this is my first writer's workshop. Little info... MamaKat does a writer's workshop, gives subjects, you choose one, and write about it. Fun, right? We'll see...
The subject I have chosen is to tell about my pet. We have a pug named Cooper, a white cat named Sarafina, a green parrot named Lolli and too many fish. Lolli, my subject, was originally intended to be the "family bird". Well, he only loves MEEE! Anyone else that dares to get near him or his cage gets pecked within an inch of their life. Well, maybe not an inch but it hurts like the dickens. Example: Yesterday I was in the process of making cookies for the fam and Lolli was fussing. So, I went and retrieved him from his playground on top of his cage. Because I didn't have enough hands to hold him and make cookies, I gave him to my 7 year old daughter to hold for just a couple minutes while I finished. Lolli wasn't having it. After about a minute he started to peck the crap outta her little skinny arm. She starts crying. I have to drop what I am doing to save her life, er.. arm.
Lolli talks. He is still considered a baby so he doesn't say a WHOLE lot. He says "C'mon... Gime kisses" and makes kissing noises, "I'm a dirty bird", "HII!!", "Step up", and "NO BITE!!". He's hilarious. To me at least. And he is really smart. I say "I'm a dirty bird" when I see him poop. Now he has begun to put it together and when he poops he says "I'm a dirty bird". lol
I love Lolli very much. I hate how he treats the rest of the family, and everyone else for that matter. What happens if I die?? No one will be able to take care of him for a while, at least until he figures out I'm gone. These birds live about 20-30 years! Yikes!

Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteYour bird sound hilarious. I used to know a family that had an african grey....that bird scared the poo outta me! But he was sooooooo smart.
I have a friend that owns birds and they kind of scare me.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty though. :)
I'd be watching everything I say for fear of the bird repeating it!
ReplyDeleteWow that's crazy! I'm hoping your bird does NOT out live you!! And I'm pretty sure it would drive me nuts...but he sure is cute!
